 Introduction

The main focus of this project is to develop of open source home media server. This project took almost one year to complete and was many stages until this research complete. Generally this project is divided into two main parts which are research and project development. For research, student must understand about the operation of operating system and, software that needed to be installed. Besides, the devices must be selected to make a careful evaluation so that the project can be accomplished with proper. From the research can be conclude that the operating system had been used is Linux 12.04 (Ubuntu) , the software needed is mythtv software ,and for the devices is one set of desktop computer that been attached with tuner card Hauppauge Win TV-GO at the pci  slot.

At the second part, project will be made. Therefore, the next task is to prepare the hardware that is desktop and tuner card, as a devices that store and operated the home media server. After that the chosen operating system and software need to be install to accomplished the project.

Project Work Flow

For project work flow, it was have two main part which are:

2. Gantt Chart

Figure above is shown flowing of work during one year to finish this project. First, idea and concept was generated to make this project. After the objective is cleared, comparison will be made by referring to the literature review. After finish this two part, equipment must to be prepared to get started this project. The right equipment must be chosen to make it compatible with the operating system that be used   After the equipment was ready the operating system was had to be install and will continued with the software installation that had been used  . Testing part will ensure the configuration is suit to achieve the objective. If have any problem and mistake that occurs during this project development, configuration part has to make some modification to overcome as the solution of the problem. Last but not least is result and analysis of the project.

This project was divided into 4 stages. All this stages is to guide this project to be done orderly and to make the progress of doing this project go in a good manner and this project was completed in accordance with their respective parts.
